And due to alcohol's legality, alcohol remains a unique and perhaps one of the most confusing addiction types. Washington is no exception. In 2007 in the state of Washington, 6,411 people were admitted for treatment for just alcohol and 9,423 more people were admitted for abusing alcohol and another substance. This means of the 38,082 people admitted to treatment, over 40% were abusing alcohol making alcohol by far the most common substance to be admitted to treatment for in Washington.
